The Parts and Assets Library (PAL)

The PAL file can be downloaded using the link below. Just change the extension from ".txt" to ".blend".
pal.txt

The PAL program should allow us to set up a library of useful, generic assets we can use when modelling stuff.
Since we're always modelling the same kind of objects (ships and planes), such a library of assets could be a huge timesaver. How many ship doors have we modelled? How many battleship gun batteries? How many radars, how many flags, how many propellers, how many chimneys? No need to redo all this stuff every time.

The plan

The plan is to seperate each section of the library into different .blend files, or Blender files, to make it easier to organize stuff.
Of course each object will have to follow strict naming conventions, as well as strict grouping convention, to prevent issues related to parent/child relations between different objects.
In order to facilitate search, ideally, each new asset should be introduced into the simple table below. One or few pictures, the name, and a short description.
NOTE: sometimes items are made of several objects. When it's the case the beginning of the name should serve as reference. All objects parts of the same item will have the same beginning. Items are not placed in groups unless they are made of many pieces. When it's the case it's explicitely stated.
NOTE: regarding pictures, pics should be named [asset]-[letter], the letter being used to distinguish several pics of the same item. For example, "canon-a" and "canon-b" are 2 pics of "canon". We use letter and not numbers to prevent confusion, as some assets will most likely exist in several versions and will be using numbers in their actual names.
