Campaign: Hearts of Iron 4 USA |
Meta informations
Game is Hearts of Iron 4, scenario is 1939, country is USA, activated DLC is Waking the Tiger. I push wood since I don't understand even 10% of the game mechanics, but whatever. We'll try to resist as long as we can.
General informations
As the USA, starting in 1939, we quickly go the carrier route and start to build carrier and carrier planes (naval bombers rather than CAS bombers).
Main focus is the war against Japan. The existing Atlantic Fleet remains untouched though, just so I can maybe send a few ships to defend England from German invasion across the Channel, if need be. "Asia first" is the motto but I wouldn't want England to fall either (trade + possible springboard to continental Europe if ever we somehow win in the Pacific or if the opportunity arise to send forces there). Operations in North Africa and Europe are out of the questions for the moment of course lol.
Recent events
- 2019-03-04: war against Japan : after quite a few hours of gameplay dedicated to have time advance to 1941, in September 1941 (earlier than I thought), Japan attacks. Midway, where my Carrier Division 2 was stationed, is quickly taken. Pearl Harbour is not attacked (yet). After the fall of Midway, Carrier Division 2 is forced to go dock at Pearl Harbour. I send submarines South-West of Pear Harbour, where an island housing a lone US division is probably going to fall under attack soon (according to my own predictions).
Predictions for the future: Japanese forces attack Pearl Harbour. Since I don't get the battle systems yet, we lose PH, and then Japanese forces start assailing the West Coast. Before they reach Washington though, they suffer from attrition or I finally get the hang of the battle mechanics or whatever, and the front begins to stale. If war goes ill for our allies in Europe, this could turn into a difficult situation.
- 2019-03-01: beginning of the campaign : as we start figuring out the construction/producton system (but not the deployment system), we begin production of as many carriers as possible.
