USITEMP2: After more than four years of the front being frozen, in a shocking turn of event, Germany has made a sudden appearance, joining the fight on the side of Nata.
The Germans first attempted a landing at dawn south of Selakano. This landing failed miserably, but it created a lot of confusion.
Immediately after, the Germans mounted a proper landing south of Telos, west of Anthrakia. Their first target was Telos itself. A Sherman medium tank and a Stuart light tank were dispatched in order to reinforce the Telos garrison, but the Germans had landed 3 powerful artillery guns, that they used to shell the city.
Pictured above: VGR tanks entering Telos. Note the artillery explosions rising from the town, and the Stuka in the top left corner of the picture.
They also had Stukas to bomb the defenders. At great cost for both sides, the city was captured by German forces.
Horrifyingly, the Germans then boldly pushed towards Rodopoli, further west, without waiting to reorganize or regroup. Six P47 Thunderbolts were deployed with the following missions: destroy the artillery guns before they could shell Rodopoli; intercept the troop convoys moving towards Rodopoli; and shoot down the Stukas. Unfortunately, German AA vehicles proved too powerful for VGR airplanes, which were only able to destroy the artillery and a few vehicles before being sent down in flames.

When the Germans reached Rodopoli, the fight was intense but short. Instead of coming from the northern road, like the VGR soldiers thought, the Germans came directly from the west, attacking the city from the hills.

This forced the defenders to reposition and fire from lower ground.

VGR anti-tank squads were able to disable some of the approaching German half-tracks.

Unfortunately, the VGR defenders were defeated and were all eliminated. However, after a short while, two more VGR tanks arrived and cleared a portion of the German attackers, but dared not enter Rodopoli, and retreated.
The defeat at Telos and Rodopoli is a terrible omen for the VGR, as Nata now has a new ally in Germany, and both Telos and Rodopoli, the most important western outposts, are now in enemy hands.
Meta:I was surprised at how well the AI was managing planes in these scenarios. Sure, it's still the Arma 3 airplane AI, but they actively drop bombs and shoot their guns. Same for the German AA vehicles, which may be a bit too OP against WW2 planes, actually.
