The Velpador War (2015) was a conflict waged between the Kingdom of Pastel and the Niverian Republic (the Velpador). It has been the last time that the two countries waged war upon each other before the creation of the Pamavel two years later.
The majority of the fighting took place in the Kouka Kingdom.

Background

In the 2000s, admirable efforts to promote peace between Pastel and the Velpador were made between the two countries. The Queen of Pastel at the time, Elise (Camille's mother) and Kilenka (then Velpadorian President and Jivenka's predecessor) were often meeting officially, with the obvious intent to erase the underlying enmity existing between the two countries, revived during the previous war in the 1930s.
In 2010, the Queen of Pastel died of natural causes, but here daughter Camille was too young to rule country (can't rule before 18), and so Helena took the helm of the Kingdom in the meantime.
In 2013, Kilenka's mandate expired, and elections took place in the Velpador. Jivenka, then Minister of Foreign Affair, was elected by a tiny margin, after a rather harsh campaign naturally revolving around the idea of peace or war with the neighboring Pastelese kingdom.
Kilenka had been largely popular and Jivenka had been his minister of foreign affairs for several years, and shared the same ideals. But Helena, whose grandfather had fought the Velpador in the 1930s, was part of the people still holding a grudge against the Velpador, and cut short most relations between the two countries. In her speeches she often gave reason to those still distrusting the Velpador.
Jivenka was pained by this state of affair and tried to organize official meetings with Helena several times, but was turned down each time. Then Helena started lightly provoking the Velpador by flying aircraft in its airspace and organizing maneuvers next to the border. She began ostensibly rearming the country. Jivenka had no choice to rearm, too. But he thought a meaningless war could still be avoided. Camille was now 16 and he knew she already harboured ideals of peace, passed on from her late mother. Jivenka was willing to contact her directly, but Helena refused all meeting between Pastelese and Velpadorian officials.
The war began on March 1st, 2015, when the Velpador attempted to send troops across the Pastelese border, inevitably triggering skirmishes along the border. It's still unclear why the Velpador struck first, given Jivenka's reluctance to go to war against Pastel, and given that he was allegedly convinced that Velpadorian troops wouldn't be able to win at the time, but the most consensual theory is that the Velpador simply was unable to wait any longer, faced with provocation from Pastel, an unnverved public opinion and an increasingly impatient military.
Quickly after the war began, Jivenka managed, by use of spies, to pass a letter to Camille to tell her to step up as queen, fire Helena and end the war as soon as she would turn 18.

The War

Beginning

At the beginning, there wasnt much fighting, just a few border skirmishes along the Pastel/Velpador border.

Invasion through Germifar

After a while, General Enelka (NLK) (the commander-in-chief of the Velpador army) proposed an audacious plan to Jivenka. The plan was to have troops go around the Pastelese border defenses and reach the Northern Pastelese border by crossing Germifar. Germifar was contacted in secret and agreed to let the Velpadorian troops pass against large sums of money.
NLK new that Pastel wouldn't have any troops watching the area on the day of the border-crossing because he planed the attack during a holiday.
However, Eugenie (Eugene), a girl cultivating carrots on top of a high hill between Pastel and Germifar, saw the incoming Velpadorian force (25 000) and reported it to Pastelese command in Decimaux. Thus, action was taken and the Velpadorian force was entirely lost with several thousands casualties and all survivors being made POWs.

Invasion through Kouka

When Enelka reported the defeat to Jivenka, Jivenka was understandably furious, but Enelka proposed another daring plan to turn the situation. The new plan was the same as the last one but this time, Velpadorians would invade via the Kouka Kingdom, to the South.
However, the same idea was thought of in Pastel HQ. Both countries sent powerful forces South in Kouka, both bribing the Koukan government. The Koukan Prime Minister took money from both side. Thus Pastel and the Velpador fought in the Kouka Kingdom. The battle progressively moved South because of the central Koukan mountains, which were impeding military movements.

Battle of Quafalia -- turning point

After months of fighting, both sides reached Quafalia (the Southern tip of the Koukan peninsula) at about the same time, and a decisive naval clash occured, in which most of the Velpadorian fleet was sunk.

Pastelese advance

After this, Pastelese troops climbed North along the Eastern coast of Kouka, chasing retreating Velpadorian forces. Although counteroffensives took place, Velpadorian forces never regained the advantage.
Pastelese troops thus entered the Velpador through the Kouka/Velpador border and quickly reached Pamenka (capital of Niveria), although the war ended before Pastel actually captured the city.
