The Mycelian language, almost identical in structure as the old French language, is written using the Latin alphabet, but the orthography of written Mycelian has underwent dramatic changes and is very different from usirl French orthography.

History

Somewhere between 20 and 30, seeing that most Mycelian people couldn't read or write properly, if at all, Mycelians officials decided it was time to very quickly try and implement a new, heavily simplified Mycelian orthography so that people could catch up. The old French orthography that few people could still read was ditched in favor of a more simplified version of said orthography.

Orthography

Although there are more letters in the Mycelian writting system than in the classical Latin alphabet, everything is written as it is pronounced and there are no exception, certainly making it easier. Main changes from old French orthography are as followed: y now makes the sound [j], j always makes the sound [ʒ], s makes the sound [s] and never [z], g always makes the sound [g], o and ɔ are now distinct letters, as e and ɛ are, the sound [u] is now represented by the letter ũ. The letters c, q and h disappear because they have no purpose anymore. Glides [w], [ɥ] and [j] are now written as such with w, ɥ and y.
